Eagle Charity Days

Eagle’s Corporate Philanthropy Program extends far beyond the generous donations we make to charities across Canada. In addition to monetary donations, Eagle team members are also encouraged support their communities by donating their own time volunteering. In 2010, Eagle implemented a Charity Day, offering all Eagle staff the opportunity to have a paid day off to volunteer in the community – and the response was phenomenal. Below are some examples of how the Eagle staff contributed to their communities in the past year and the organizations that benefitted:

Aspen Family Services

Armed with old clothes, paint, and a ton of determination, members of the Calgary Team spent a Saturday transforming the interior of an old apartment building into a fresh living space for a needy family. This volunteer opportunity was organized by our own Mai Khalil on behalf of Aspen Family Services – an organization devoted to providing valuable social services to Calgary and area.

Our Cast of Expert Painters: Mai Khalil, Mandy Slater, Ian Yule, Merilyn Tinana, Christine Vi, Matt Emberley, Kinga Kowal, Matt Macmullin, Payal Lavingia, Bruce Cathcart, and Brianne Risley.

Multicultural Arts for Schools and Communities (MASC)

Lisa Murray and Donna Leroux-Bailey from Eagle’s Ottawa office volunteered at MASC’s Young Author’s and Illustrators Conference.MASC The conference allows students from grades 4 to 8 with a special interest in writing and illustrating to live out their dreams of working with some of Canada’s most recognized authors and illustrators of children’s literature.

Lisa and Donna’s time was very much appreciated by MASC:

“A warm thank you to all of you for volunteering at the MASC conference last week. All the smiling faces over the three days suggested to us that the budding young authors and illustrators were having a wonderful time! We appreciated everyone’s enthusiasm for all the various roles….. registration, help in the hospitality suite, traffic direction through the halls (at A, B, C, D, E and so on!), cafeteria supervision, help at the book tables, driving artists, setup, cleanup and hauling supplies, etc etc. Arranging this conference is a big undertaking and we simply couldn’t do it without the generous support of people like yourselves.”
