Dear ACSESS Members:
It was a spectacular Monday for seven ACSESS colleagues, who awoke to the news they had been named to Profit Magazine’s Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs for 2008.
In all, nine of the 100 women chosen by the business magazine for the annual list head staffing industry companies.
“There are many diverse, fascinating stories among this year’s Profit W100 winners,” said Ian Portsmouth, editor of Profit. “These are leaders who may have faced tough challenges but came out ahead as strong businesswomen who lead companies in a wide range of sectors. They are role models for all entrepreneurs”
Leading the ranks for ACSESS members was Ottawa’s Janis Grantham. The president and chief operating officer of Eagle Professional Resources maintained her fourth place standing from the previous three years.
Joining Grantham on the Profit W100 are:
- Shannon Bowen-Smed – Bowen Workforce Solutions, Calgary AB
- Sylvie Hyndman/Nancy Wiesner – Dynamic Employment Solutions Inc., Brampton ON
- PJ Ferguson – ABL Employment Inc./ABL London Inc., London ON
- Lori Van Opstal – Your Advantage Staffing Consultants Inc., Cambridge ON
- Meighen Nehme – The Job Shoppe Inc., Windsor ON
The other two staffing industry executives on the list are: Catherine Rose – Sterling Employment Group, Brampton ON; Carrie Rowan – Absolute Recruitment, which was recently acquired by the national firm, David Alpin Recruiting.
“I believe this speaks to the strength of our industry, both in terms of leadership and opportunity. To have seven of our members recognized as leading entrepreneurs among the many successes of Canadian business women is remarkable,” said Amanda Curtis, executive director for ACSESS.
ACSESS member companies pledge to uphold the association’s Code of Ethics and Standards. They are committed to an industry which gives clients the ability to respond to business realities and changing technologies; and to give workers – at all levels – an ever-increasing range of employment opportunities.
According to Profit, “the 10th annual W100 list showcases 100 enterprising women entrepreneurs who are delivering world-class products and services – and reaping the rewards. The average annual revenue of Canada’s Top Women Entrepreneurs rose to $36.8 million in their most recent fiscal year, up from $32 million a year earlier and just $15 million when the ranking was established in 1999. They have achieved an average three-year revenue growth of 236 per cent.”
The W100 are ranked by their firms’ gross revenue for their most recent complete fiscal year. Revenue figures were confirmed through financial statements.
