Making an Impact Amongst the Noise!

We are bombarded with emails all day every day! Social media is going crazy ... there is a new social media site every day and the BIG ones are becoming more "generic" as they get bigger! If its not emails and social media we are now getting SPAM texts ... along with the many other texts, IMs and other "instant" communication media! How do you get your message heard in ALL of that "NOISE"? If you think about what gets your attention now there will be some common themes ... 1. It is a SUBJECT that you are interested in; 2. You likely CHOSE to listen to that person/message. 3. The message gives you something ... humour, intelligence, an update etc. 4. It is NOT GENERIC. So ... turn that around and you might be on to something. If you have a message that you want to deliver, then your best chances of success are if you can: 1. Identify a very targeted audience ... do NOT try to be all things to all people; 2. Have a subject that that specific audience might find interesting; and 3. Make sure that your message brings some value! For example ... with this short blog entry I have shared knowledge about communicating messages that I have learned over many years in business and 6 years of blogging. I have shared it with those people who read my blog ... usually because they choose to read it. The subject should be of interest to anyone who who communicates for business. You obviously don't need to blog to get your messages out, but it IS one way to do it and given enough time you can establish a level of credibility which can only help if you run a business or have any kind of sales responsibility! "There are no free lunches" and "The harder I work the luckier I get" are two phrases that are popular for a reason! ----------------------------------------------- Kevin Dee is CEO of Eagle (a Professional Staffing Company) Want to know where Canada's hot jobs are?
