What an amazing deal for three company founders, all under thirty years of age who had an idea, created a company and took it from startup two years ago to a $1.65 billion sale to Google!
Who says the era of the dot.com is gone? A good understanding of the power of the internet, a way to garner a serious following and “hey presto!” a few more young entrepreneurs with mega wealth. The Amazons, EBays, Yahoos and Googles of the world have shown the way and there will be more … will it be Myspace next or maybe Facebook or Flickr? The internet is an ever evolving tool, social network and business opportunity for those who have that great idea.
Of course there are pros and cons to most things. In this case you have to applaude the people who followed their dream and made it a reality. Everyone likes to think that “the big one” is still possible and that wealth can be attained without a lifetime of effort.
The caution is that more people will believe that great wealth is easy to get … if you are smart, have a good idea and put a couple of years effort in! Maybe that’s not so bad? Maybe this kind of success creates more dreamers, more people willing to “bet it all” on their big idea and just maybe that is what life is all about.
I like to dream big, I like to live fast, I like to make things happen, but in the scheme of things some days I realise there is so much more potential “out there”. Maybe I need to dream a little bigger, live a little faster and make some bigger things happen!
Hey … if I can do it, so can you!
