Eagle’s client is seeking an Investment Control/Governance & Controls Analyst for a three (3) month contract opportunity.

Key Investment Control/Governance & Controls Analyst Skills
  • University Degree in a relevant discipline
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in investment industry or mutual fund industry
  • Canadian Securities Course
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including the ability to understand and build macros, pivot tables and other features in order to efficiently identify positions, trends and enable analysis of the information
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications and the willingness to learn custom applications used for enquiry purposes
As an Investment Control/Governance & Controls Analyst, you will be responsible for:
  • The review of the Portfolio Managers including sub-advisors’ investment processes;
  • Performing and enhancing monitoring of portfolios’ transactions and holdings to ensure compliance with securities legislation and investment policy guidelines as agreed to by Investment Managers;
  • Monitoring is performed primarily using an automated compliance system, for which the incumbent may assist in updating and maintaining the rules database;
  • Acting as back-up for running automated monitoring;
  • Performing analysis of portfolio holdings and transactions that cannot be monitored electronically;
  • Assisting in maintaining thorough documentation of monitoring performed and communication of exceptions;
  • Distributing, following up exceptions with portfolio managers and Asset Management stakeholders until timely resolution or escalate;
  • Ensuring results of monitoring, follow-up, and resolution are fully documented;
  • Analyzing output from various sources to determine validity of exceptions;
  • Maintaining the Investment Policy Guideline Implementation Process;
  • Assisting in production of templates for the ICS/Mutual Fund Compliance certificates;
  • Classifying all short term cash securities in the mutual funds and provide credit ratings analysis on these securities;
  • Performing completeness and accuracy checks on parameter inputs to monitoring system;
  • Assisting in the preparation of the minutes of monthly meetings;
  • Providing regular reporting to Senior Manager, Investment Controls, Governance & Controls and participate in meetings with the Investment Controls, Governance & Controls;
  • Supporting others in the department as required as well as Coverage during departmental vacations;
  • Making recommendations to resolve issues and work with parties to implement recommendations; and,
  • Providing responses to queries from various stakeholders.
