Video Solutions Technician

Eagle currently has a career opportunity for a Video Solutions Technician and we are looking to speak to qualified candidates with the skills and experience outlined below.

This position is a 12-month contract to start in May.

Key Video Solutions Technician Skills

  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience with video transcoding and streaming environments.
  • Advanced knowledge in all aspects of Linux and Windows operating systems including networking and file system mounting.
  • Experience with commercial live encoding platforms including Elemental Technologies
  • At least three (3) years of using public cloud compute and services (AWS, MS Azure, Google Cloud)
  • At least three (3) years of experience with video transcoding, packaging and metadata management
  • Experience with Streaming video protocols such as H264, HEVC, HLS, MPEG-DASH, Microsoft Smooth Streaming.
  • Experience working with public CDNs (Akamai, Fastly, Limelight)
  • Experience with commercial and open-source video players such as BitMovin, ExoPlayer, VLC, etc…
  • Detailed knowledge of at least one video digital rights management system.
  • RCHSA certified.
  • Detailed knowledge of at least one video digital rights management system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Motivated self-starter, with a proven track record in following through with tasks and projects.

As Video Solutions Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Architecting, implementing and supporting live and on-demand video solutions for our digital media properties.
  • Share ownership in the video streaming solutions produced by the Video Hosting team. This includes but is not limited to encoding, transcoding, packaging, encrypting and delivering video.
  • Participate in configuration and maintenance of video hosting servers, load balancers, caching layers and content delivery networks.
  • Work with brands to create sustainable and efficient workflows for the processing of video for all of the clients' digital platforms including web, mobile, cable VOD and iTunes while striving to ensure the highest quality end format.
  • Assist peers and participate in transcoder infrastructure evaluation, testing and capacity planning.
