On the coffee table in my office I keep a couple of small books that are easy to browse, and every now and then … not as often as I should … I will pick one up and read a few pages.
One of those books is Life’s Little Instruction Book with 511 suggestions, observations and reminders on how to live a happy and rewarding life! I wish it were that easy!!! However there is definite merit in following the tips in this book. I was particularly intrigued today because the author originally wrote this book as a road map for his son as he headed out to college. I dropped my son off yesterday …
Here are a few gems that struck a chord with me:
Call your mother 🙂
Say “Thank you” a lot … say “please” a lot.
Sing in the shower.
Never underestimate the power of a kind word or deed.
Take care of your reputation, its your most valuable asset.
Leave everything a little better than you found it.
Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know.
Praise in public … criticise in private.
Be kinder than necessary.
and 501 others!
If you like to remind yourself what is really important then pick up a copy … its $7 well spent!
