The Irish Influence

My mom is an Irish lady in her eighties who weighs 90 pounds wet and has more energy and spunk than most people I know … and she is as sharp as a tack! You can probably tell I am proud of her!

With my Irish heritage I inherited a love of Irish toasts, sayings and the outlook on life that these portray. I thought I would share a few, to brighten up your day!

May misfortune follow you the rest of your life, and never catch up.

May the saddest day of your future be no worse than the happiest day of your past.

May you be in heaven a full half hour before the devil knows your dead.

May you get all your wishes but one,so that you will always have something to strive for!

May you die in bed at 95, shot by a jealous spouse.

And one I have heard many times from relatives …
May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. And rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

And here is a wish for the future from me to you …

As you slide down the banisters of life may the splinters never point the wrong way.

I think it is the irreverence that I like the most, but also the joy of life that comes through loud and clear! I can relate to all of these … and there a tons more! Hope these gave you a chuckle … but also made you think a little!
