It is a finite resource that can never be recaptured.
We are born, we have some time and then we die … it is what we do with that time that defines us and fulfills us.
We don’t all have to be superstars … in fact we can’t all be superstars.
We can’t all be the boss, we can’t all be rich and we can’t all be genius’s.
We can all do our best, we can be proud of our achievements and we can choose to make the most of our time.
We can reach our potential … in our personal lives and in our professional lives.
The best way to do that is to make the most of the time we have.
It does not mean cramming every minute with activity … rest and relaxation is part of the enjoyment of living.
It does however mean being efficient with our time.
“Waste your money and you’re only out of money, but waste your time and you’ve lost a part of your life.” Michael LeBoeuf.
It means determining what is most important and getting it done.
It means deciding how much time you are willing to devote to work … and really working hard, and smart, during that time.
It means determining what we want to do in our lives and developing a plan to make sure we get o do those things … these may be based on a bucket list and a career plan.
Plans are flexible … but if you don’t have a plan to start with then you are drifting aimlessly.
Take some of that precious time and work on your priorities … where do you see yourself in 5, 10, 15 years? How are you going to get there? What makes you happy? What interests and stimulates you? Who do you want to spend time with?
When you have your starting points you will need to get very good at managing your time to make sure you meet your goals.
Here is a blog entry I wrote some time back with Ten Tips for Managing Your Time.
Don’t let time just go by … it is a precious resource and you should take full advantage of it!
